Clovis North claims top spot

Tuesday afternoon brought an early #1 vs. #2 matchup which saw Clovis North defeat Memorial 5-0, behind a dominant effort from Riley Cooper. Cooper went a complete game, giving up only two hits and striking out nine. Junior Rees Kent went 3-4, 3B, RBI at the plate while Freddy Flores and Blake Asadoor also added RBIs. The Broncos now have the inside track to playing in the Coca-Cola Classic Championship and should stay at #1 until league play rolls around–barring an upset.

Golden Eagles grind out win

In a game where offense was hard to come by for most of the afternoon, it was Noah Galvan’s pitching efforts which lifted Clovis West to a 3-0 victory over Tulare Western. Galvan threw a complete game, two-hitter. “I was feeling good the whole way and just needed to adjust to a road mound for the first time this year,” Galvan said. “I pounded the strike zone well with a little bit of velo and got outs.” Chauncey Turney opened the scoring with a two-out RBI double in the second inning. Bradley Senneway, who had three hits, added insurance with an RBI in the 6th and Art Navarette picked up an RBI single in the same inning.

Bears maul Pioneers

Buchanan jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they beat Mt. Whitney 13-0 which ended after five innings due to mercy rule. The Bears got a strong performance out of sophomore Max Bernal on the mound (3 IP, 1 H, 3 Ks) as well as at the plate where he went 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI. Temo Becerra had a strong performance going 4-4 with 4 RBI.

Bullard takes down previously unbeaten Central

Travis Preston fueled the Bullard offense with two hits and two RBIs as Bullard took down Central 6-4 at Tom Goodwin Field. Cyrus Zamora improved his record to 2-0 on the mound this year–with his two wins coming against two TRAC schools.

Clovis East gets back in the win column

Tomas Canales, Caiden Duff, and Dom Jimenez combined to only allow one run on four hits as Clovis East (3-2 overall) beat Redwood 5-1. Elias Mart went 2-3 with a double and Vance Hamzy added a double and a triple.

Cougars shutout Wildcats

Clovis evened their record back to .500 with an 8-0 victory over Sunnyside. Noah Beal started the game, making his third appearance this season, and was followed in relief by Nolan Sumter who tossed four innings of scoreless baseball. Koby Kropf and Miles Henderson each had two doubles at the plate.
