Central Section baseball notebook, 2/15

Senior shortstop Bradley Senneway is a mainstay in the Clovis West lineup and helped the Golden Eagles to a victory over Bullard on Saturday.

Friday and Saturday saw a full slate of games in the Centra Section with every Clovis/Fresno area Division I team in action, along with the schools from Bakersfield. Keep up to date with the action.

Memorial outlasts Buchanan in extra innings

Memorial and Buchanan have certainly looked like major contenders early in the year and the two matched up on Saturday. The Panthers beat the Bears 2-1 in eight innings, led by an RBI single from Fresno State commit Tyler Davis. Davis ended the day 3-3 with a double. John Castro started the game for Memorial on the mound and pitched 3.1 scoreless innings. Eddie Saldivar added two hits for Memorial and scored the go-ahead run in the 8th inning. Buchanan sophomore Max Bernal belted a homerun in the bottom of the 7th to extend the game.

Cougars pick up first win

Clovis beat Redwood 6-1 with a strong performance from senior Ian Mortensen (5 IP, 5 Ks; 2-3 at the plate). In a time of need, the Clovis core of seniors stepped up to lead the Cougars past the Rangers: Noah Beal 2-3, 2 RBI and Miles Henderson 2 RBI. Beal also saw an inning of action on the mound.

Clovis North pitching continues to dominant

Clovis North moved their record to 3-0 with an 11-1 win over Fresno High. Per Coca-Cola Classic rules, games are called after five innings if the run differential is ten or more runs. Luke Sula got his first start as a Bronco and went five innings, walking nobody. Blake Asadoor had a big day at the plate, going 2-3 with a HR and 4 RBI. Clovis North has given up just three runs in three games this season. (Sula featured below)

Golden Eagles’ Henderson dominant

Clovis West beat Bullard 2-0 with a dominant effort from left handed Fresno State signee Ixan Henderson. Henderson went four innings, striking out 9 Knights. Bradley Senneway finished with a 2B and RBI for Clovis West.

Central still undefeated
