State-ranked matchup lives up to hype
The state-ranked matchup between Buchanan and Memorial lived up to it’s billing. Senior Christian Williams got the start on the bump for the Bears and tossed four innings, giving up two runs. A fourth inning solo HR from Tanner Sagouspe tied the game up at two. However, with the bases loaded, Max Bernal drove a ball to deep right field, clearing the bases for a double and giving Buchanan a 5-2 lead. Austin Watson and Temo Becerra would combine to throw the final two innings as the Bears held on to win 5-3.

Cougars take early lead and never look back

Brayden Nicholson added two hits and Garfield totaled 3RBI for the day. Mick Backowski went 2-3 with a double and junior Jayden Mize went 3-4 with 3RBI. Senior Drew Steinhardt set the tone going four innings, striking out five.
